Dear Kindergarten and First Grade Parents,
Your child’s class is participating in Oregon Ballet Theatre’s highly acclaimed educational outreach program--OBT L.A.B. This is an exciting learning event! During the coming weeks students will Learn About Ballet during six special creative movement classes held at your school. Everybody will be dancing! During the classes Kindergarten and First Grade students and teachers will:
· Explore the special way that dancers train their bodies to be flexible, strong and expressive,
· Learn about ballet history, including the names of some “steps,”
· Feel how music and dance work together,
· See dance as another way to communicate -whether it be a story or a feeling.
Kindergarteners will be able to see costumes and dance shoes during one of their in-school class-times.
During this time, when you ask your child about their day at school, don’t forget to ask if they had an OBT L.A.B class and what they learned that day! We often have a time during our last dance class for parents and special friends to observe—that time to be announced by your teacher. We look forward to meeting you and dancing with your children.

At the Apple Festival, students were able to taste many different types of apples and see how apple cider is made. If you attended either field trip, please feel free to post photos to our shutterfly account!
Last week we also had our first Parent Led Art lesson. Students made their own versions of Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night. I will post photos tonight.
This week is a short week for kiddos. They have school Monday and Tuesday ONLY. Parent teacher conferences are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday and school is closed on Friday. I will send home a reminder of your conference day and time tomorrow.
We will be finishing up learning about pumpkins this week and will move into our next unit on spiders next week.
